While we did not make it to Venice, since we have been there so many times, I thought I would share some pictures that Matti Chan posted from his trip.  It truly is a magical city, and we have always enjoyed our times there.

  Tokyo, Japan  Our welcome in the port as we headed out on our first of two days in Tokyo.   A cultural tour for the day starting at the Senso-ji Temple. It is one of Tokyo's most colorful and popular temples and is a Buddhist temple dedicated to Kannon. According to the legend, a statue of Kannon was found in the river by two fishermen, and even when they put it back in the river, it always returned to them. The chief of the village recognized the statue as significant and remodeled his home into a temple for Kannon, the goddess of compassion. It is known for its curative powers of smoke that billows from the bonze urn burning incense. This temple was the busiest we have visited so far - it was mobbed, and everyone was burning incense at the urn. The temple was bombed during WWII and also partially destroyed by fire several times but was rebuilt into the current temple of today. Getting ready for our world adventure

Good morning all.... As we finalize details, the reality of this amazing adventure is upon us!!  I hope you follow along with us on our world journey and enjoy the amazing experiences ahead for Mickey and I!! We are currently in Missouri, heading to Clinton for our visit to celebrate early Christmas with Kulani, Jared, Gary, Varina and Oren, then on to St Charles with Kevin, Danielle, Autumn and Andy. Brittany is going to sneak in for a few days, so we get a great send off from our whole family. Back to Naples on December 5th, two action packed days saying goodbye to friends and then off to Miami  December 8th for the big Gala party hosted by Royal Caribbean for all full world cruisers.  It does not seem possible that our departure date is almost upon us -  only 16 days to go!!! December 10th is our set sail date and the journey begins.

Corfu, Greece 6/17/24

  Corfu, Greece We arrived in Corfu, Greece to the sight of sailboats and a wonderful sunrise. Corfu itself is only 36 miles long and at its widest point, 17 miles. Corfu is mainly made up of limestone and is well watered, fertile, its main product is olives, but it also grows figs, oranges, lemons, grapes, corn and kumquats. We learned that the kumquats are used to make some pretty tasty kumquat liquor as well as candied kumquats. In 2007, the Old Town of Corfu was named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our last visit to Corfu took us to some villages in the mountains, Paleokastritsa and Lakones, so we chose to do a hop on hop off tour with some friends, and toured the old fort, which we did not have time for on our last visit.  The fort is a Venetian fortress that was built in the early 15th century.  We had planned on also touring the Achillion Palace which was built for Empress Elizabeth of Austria, also known as Sisi.  It was unfortunately closed for renovations, s...
