Port Elizabeth, South Africa Today, we embark on a mini Safari!  When the ship realigned its ports from the mideast to Africa, we debated on setting up a real safari in camps, overland, but opted to wait until we could do the safari we wanted, when we wanted it, and where we wanted it, instead of "jimmy rigging" one to fit this schedule change.  A lot of other passengers opted for that choice and said it was fabulous - an experience for a future trip for us!  And so, our mini safari for the day.   Early morning start to try to catch the animals while it was still cool - was a scorcher today.   After about an hour and a half drive, we got to the park, and had to wait for access, since our guides were directed to the wrong entrance, and it took a while to work it out.... Kudu Red Hartebeast Zebras Warthogs - we caught them fighting - pretty cool to watch. Water Buffalo - one of the big 5 Our driver was very careful to miss them! Reunion Island 5/20/24

Reunion Island Not much to post here -we did not schedule any tours, as there was a local handcraft market and some restaurants for local foods, which we decided to do.  However, unbeknown to us, the day we were in port was a national holiday and everything was closed.  We took the shuttle into "town" which was a shopping mall.  At least Mickey and I got a haircut, but other than that, have nothing to share about this stop. There was the Mariamen Temple, but of course, it was closed so snapped a few pics from outside.  That's it folks. A day at sea, and on to Port Elizabeth.

Port Louis, Mauritius At the port, another welcoming committee for us. After a little confusion with our tour guide, we got started with a drive around the town.  Queen Victoria memorial in the town square, and then up to the fort. Very little expectations of this port, so pleasantly surprised at the size of the city, and the breathtaking scenery that we started with.   And of course, no tour is complete without a visit to the local markets.  Really wished we had more of these back home. Isn't he beautiful? The produce was incredible.  Mickey is itching to get back cooking. From the local markets, we walked over and under to get to the more upscale part of the city, and an open-air mall with lots of shops and food stops Once we finished at the mall - Mickey and I decided to go back later that evening, since we were overnighting in the port - we headed to the Sit See Woo Sagur botanical gardens and toured a good part of the garden, which covers about 37.5 acres. A great lunch, and
