Our next stop is Subic Bay, a purpose-built port of call for a former U.S. naval base and one of the most protected bodies of water in the Philippines. Thanks to that protection it is home to some lovely, calm beaches, several of which have resorts available for day use. The three beaches that were part of the naval base are called Dungaree, Officer’s, and All Hands. The deep waters of the bay have great reefs and shipwrecks that date back to 1898 for scuba divers to explore. 

For me, it was a girl's day - off to a local spa for a body scrub, massage, manicure and pedicure.  I was supposed to have a facial also, but the salon overbooked too many cruisers and could not get to the facial.  It was still a great day with the girls, and the massage was totally worth it.  After a successful day of pampering, we hit the Schooner Bar for a celebratory cocktail...

Mickey and Shel did a guy's day - they hired a taxi and asked the driver to take them around to where he wanted - they did go to the naval base (both were in military, albeit the USAF) to see the remnants from the wat.  Went to a local hangout on the beach for lunch, and found a street market that looked terrific, but I wouldn't have given up my spa day.  A totally relaxing day for both of us.  

We’ll spend our next day at sea as we head for Hong Kong, which we are very much looking forward to.

Getting ready for our world adventure

Good morning all.... As we finalize details, the reality of this amazing adventure is upon us!!  I hope you follow along with us on our world journey and enjoy the amazing experiences ahead for Mickey and I!! We are currently in Missouri, heading to Clinton for our visit to celebrate early Christmas with Kulani, Jared, Gary, Varina and Oren, then on to St Charles with Kevin, Danielle, Autumn and Andy. Brittany is going to sneak in for a few days, so we get a great send off from our whole family. Back to Naples on December 5th, two action packed days saying goodbye to friends and then off to Miami  December 8th for the big Gala party hosted by Royal Caribbean for all full world cruisers.  It does not seem possible that our departure date is almost upon us -  only 16 days to go!!! December 10th is our set sail date and the journey begins.

Bon Voyage Party

December 6th, 2023   So...we had a fabulous sendoff with our Greyhawk buddies...lots of laughs, hugs, and a few tears as we get ready to head out on our epic adventure.  Food was fabulous and plentiful ( getting us ready for the cruise - yikes) , shared a few cocktails and had a wonderful toast to send us off on our journey.... See you all in September See you when the summers through Here we are, saying goodbye at the pier We'll have a good time but remember WE WILL SEE YOU ALL IN SEPTEMBER!!!!!!

Pre Cruise Festivities

 Soooo.... December 8th, we made it out of Naples, heading to Miami for dinner with friends and then the big Gala dinner that Royal Caribbean is hosting.  Amazing coincidence - when we got to Miami, Mickey sees a post from a good friend and business colleague from our days at MONY and Aviva....they are coming into Miami on Dec 9th from a cruise and staying at our hotel.... we got to have lunch and catch up.... it's probably been 15 years since we have seen them.  They are heading out on a world cruise in January - not as long as ours but many of the same destinations!  Great way to start our journey.... When we checked into our hotel, the hotel staff took our 11 bags and will have them delivered directly to the ship...Only kept our overnight and Gala clothes (which, by the way, Royal took the next morning, so we didn't have to drag it all with us when we boarded.  Heaven) Royal had some pre cruise gifts for us, small backpacks with a variety of items that will come in handy on
