Sea Days Cruising to Valparaiso Chile 1/20-22/24


So, we have been cruising in the Pacific Ocean for the past two days and will arrive at Valparaiso tomorrow, which looks to be a very interesting city and we are looking forward to some terra firma again.  As reported earlier, we have missed French Guina, Falkland Islands, and Puerto Madryn due to inclement weather that did not allow safe tendering from the ship to shore.  Unbeknown to us, it appears that our trip insurance covers this at $250 per person per port, so it seems we will be getting $1500 as reimbursement...how cool is that?   It is a very special day for our grandson, Andy.  He turns 5 today - we will be facetiming to wish him a happy birthday and see if he enjoyed the gifts, we got him before we left on this journey.  A few updates on weather and some of the sunrises and sunsets we have been experiencing on this cruise...

Good morning all.... As we finalize details, the reality of this amazing adventure is upon us!!  I hope you follow along with us on our world journey and enjoy the amazing experiences ahead for Mickey and I!! We are currently in Missouri, heading to Clinton for our visit to celebrate early Christmas with Kulani, Jared, Gary, Varina and Oren, then on to St Charles with Kevin, Danielle, Autumn and Andy. Brittany is going to sneak in for a few days, so we get a great send off from our whole family. Back to Naples on December 5th, two action packed days saying goodbye to friends and then off to Miami  December 8th for the big Gala party hosted by Royal Caribbean for all full world cruisers.  It does not seem possible that our departure date is almost upon us -  only 16 days to go!!! December 10th is our set sail date and the journey begins.

Singapore 4/24/24

Singapore  Another welcoming committee as we disembarked the ship.  And a picture from our balcony as we arrived in port in the morning.   How we wish that we had more time in Singapore! What an amazing city!!  And such a short time here 6.5 hours but you will see we packed it in...We rented a small minivan for 10 people, and followed the advice of a fellow passenger who was from Singapore.    We started out at the Singapore Changi Airport terminal.  Mickey had been reading about what a fabulous terminal it was and how much he wanted to see it, so the group was all in.  It was a fabulous building, featuring an indoor waterfall that was magnificent.  Problem was, we got there at 9 am, and the fountain did not turn on till 11 am.  So, we had to come back later to see it in action.  It was worth the 2nd trip and thankfully it was close to the port - we cut this one close.   Our next stop was Garden's by the Bay.  I canno...

Koper, Slovenia 6/22/24

  Koper, Slovenia Koper with a population 25,000, on the Slovenia coast is the fifth largest in Slovenia. It is located in the horseshoe shaped bay in northern Adriatic. It is located only 3 miles from the Italian border and only 12 miles from the port we had just left, Trieste, Italy. That is probably the reason that Italian and Slovene languages are the two official languages of Koper. Not only does Koper border Italy, but it also borders Austria, Hungary and Croatia. Austria’s influence can be seen everywhere, from it’s housing designs, alpine ski resorts and lifestyle. Slovenians like to enjoy the coastal areas during the Summer, where they can do water sports, and then drive up to the surrounding Julian alps during the winter to enjoy snow sports. Slovenians are very fitness oriented and seem to brag a bit about how they are more focused on physical work and activities than drinking and eating like their neighboring countries.
